The UK has announced a new state-owned company called GB Grid to compete with private network operators in a major overhaul of electricity connections policy. The reforms also include self-build provisions allowing developers to construct their own connections in some cases, modeled on successful Irish policy, alongside competitive tendering for transmission projects.
