Generate Capital is a genuine climate-positive platform: it finances, owns, and operates hard assets — solar, storage, microgrids, EV fleets, organic-waste-to-RNG, and water infrastructure — that displace fossil-fuel consumption across municipal, corporate, and community customers. The Public Benefit Corporation structure and $10B+ deployed since 2014 give it more structural credibility than a typical impact fund, but third-party verification of portfolio-level emissions avoided and the absence of SBTi-validated targets for its own operations introduce a meaningful gap between marketing claims and auditable proof. The inclusion of renewable natural gas (RNG) as a core asset class warrants scrutiny, given ongoing scientific debate about methane leakage and additionality.
